First-Time College Students

First-time college students are students who will graduate or have graduated from high school or received a GED, AND have not enrolled or completed 24 transferable hours at another institution AFTER high school or earning a GED.

Students who have met the required high school diploma types below may be considered for admission by submitting a complete application.

• Distinguished Achievement (HB5)
• Recommended (UAP)
• Distinguished (UAP)

First-time college students seeking admission should graduate/have graduated high school with one of the following diploma types that include 4 English credits, 4 Math credits, 4 Science credits, 3 Social Studies credits, and 2 credits of the same foreign language.

Homeschooled, Out-of-State students, and Private School students are exempt from this requirement.

STEP ONE: Review Admission Requirements

Students who graduate high school within the high school class quartile below will be guaranteed admission if the required diploma type is earned.

Although not required for admission purposes, applicants are strongly encouraged to submit SAT or ACT scores to the university for academic advising and enrollment purposes.

Students who attend a non-ranking high school, will be provided a class ranking based off of their GPA and the admissions office's internal ranking system.

Please note that our nursing, engineering, graphic design, music, and theatre programs require additional information and have additional admission requirements after university acceptance. Please refer to their respective departments for more information.

1st Quarter

Guaranteed Admission: Test scores optional, but encouraged.

2nd Quarter

Guaranteed Admission: Test scores optional, but encouraged.

3rd and 4th Quarters

Holistic Review: Test scores optional. Review considers combination of success indicators including test scores, unweighted high school GPA, and class rank.

High School Program, Curriculum, or Course Work:

Requires completion of prerequisite course work to indicate preparedness to include:

• English (4 credits)
• Lab Sciences (4 credits)
• Mathematics (4 credits)
• Social Studies (3 credits)
• Foreign Language (2 credits)

Students that have not taken this preparatory coursework will be considered under the modified holistic review (as indicated for 3rd and 4th quarter applicants).

Holistic Review without Test Scores

Students who do not meet automatic admission requirements may be considered for Conditional Freshman Admission through a holistic review of their credentials. All students are encouraged to apply.

STEP TWO: Complete the ApplyTexas Application

We encourage all students to complete the Apply Texas application. A payment of the application fee is required for processing.

The essay on the ApplyTexas application is not required.

The U.S. student application fee is $40. Applications turned in late will incur an additional $10 fee.

Fee waivers submitted by a high school guidance counselor will be accepted. Please contact your counselor for more information. If you have already graduated high school, please contact the Office of Recruitment and Admissions for more information on obtaining a fee waiver.

STEP THREE: Submit Official Transcript(s)

STEP FOUR: *OPTIONAL* Submit ACT and/or SAT Test Scores and Supplemental Information

ACT and SAT Test Scores

ACT and/or SAT scores are not required for an admissions decision, however they are strongly encouraged. If sending scores, they must be sent directly from the testing agency. Test scores can also be used to determine merit scholarship eligibility and admission into the Honors Program.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi also accepts ACT and SAT scores that are posted on the back of an official sealed transcript.

We recommend sending all testing attempts as our office "super scores" and reviews the highest scores from each test to form a new composite score.

Holistic Review without Test Scores

Students who do not meet automatic admission requirements (or do not submit test scores) may be considered for Conditional Freshman Admission through a holistic review of their credentials. All students are encouraged to apply.

Texas Success Initiative

ACT and SAT scores may also be used to exempt students from taking the Texas Success Initiative Assessment (TSI), the state-mandated college placement exam.

Admitted students are required to submit TSI scores if they are not exempt to determine college-readiness. Please visit the admitted students page for more information or contact the Office of Academic Testing at 361.825.2334 or atcweb@tamucc.edu.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi has rolling admissions, however we encourage students to meet the deadlines listed below.

Fall Semester - Application late fee effective: July 1
Spring Semester - Application late fee effective: November 1
Summer Semester - Application late fee effective: April 1

Freshman Scholarship Deadline

Your acceptance and completed Apply Texas application serves as your scholarship application, which considers you for $1,000 to $4000 per year in merit based freshman scholarships.

Fall Priority Deadline: October 1
Deadline: February 1

Financial Aid Deadlines

To find out if you are qualified for federal student aid, complete the FAFSA as soon as possible.

FAFSA application becomes available: October 1
Fall Priority Deadline: January 15
Spring Priority Deadline: November 1
Summer Priority Deadline: February 15

FAFSAs will still be accepted after the priority deadline, however, applications received after the posted dates will be awarded on a funds-available basis.

  • You should not attempt to register with Med+Proctor as a Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi student before you’re admitted .

  Conditional Admission

  Students who do not meet our automatic admission criteria may be offered Conditional Admission. This offers students the benefits of a prescribed course of study with additional academic support and careful structured monitoring to ensure your success through your freshman year.

  Students who are conditionally admitted, must agree to conditions to receive additional support and benefits that will lay the foundation for your future academic success at TAMU-CC and beyond. For more information, please review the Undergraduate Conditional Admissions Agreement Form below.

  College Connection Program (CCP) with Del Mar College

  The College Connection Program (CCP) is a collaborative partnership between Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and Del Mar College. The CCP program provides a guarantee of full admission to TAMU-CC for students successfully completing the program requirements at Del Mar College.

  CCP students benefit from enrollment at Del Mar College; students enjoy the university experience afforded by A&M-Corpus Christi (such as sports events, and a range of student services and activities), while enjoying the smaller classroom environments and costs of Del Mar College. Academic advisors, faculty, and staff at Del Mar College facilitate CCP student successes.

  Islander Academy Dual Credit

  Islander Academy is TAMU-CC's dual credit program which allows high school students then opportunity to earn both high school and college credit on the TAMU-CC campus. Students are placed anonymously into TAMU-CC courses, giving them a true understanding of a prestigious university experience.

  Eligibility: Students must be a current high school student, attending one of the schools below, or a home-schooled student.

  Concurrent Admissions (for High School Seniors)

  If you are a high school senior that wishes to enroll at A&M-Corpus Christi during your last year of high school, you may do so by applying for admission through our concurrent enrollment program. Concurrent enrollment allows you to earn college credit only; not high school school credit. High School and College Credit can be earned by enrolling in the Islander Academy Dual Credit program.

  What is concurrent enrollment?
  Concurrent enrollment allows you to enroll for a college class or classes (pending approval) prior to graduating from high school. A student admitted to the program enjoys the same rights and privileges as a regular degree-seeking student, and is subject to the same federal rules and regulations.

  Admission Requirements

  To be considered for admission into our concurrent enrollment program, you must meet certain testing/class rank, high school, and TSI requirements. See below to review all necessary requirements.

  • Rank in the top 10% of your high school class, or
  • Have a composite score of 25 on the ACT, or
  • Have a composite score of 1140 on the SAT Reasoning examination.

  To be eligible for admission, you must be completing a college preparatory high school curriculum and submit a letter of recommendation from your high school principal.

  In addition to the requirements outlined above, you must also have received passing scores on all sections of an approved Texas Success Initiative (TSI) assessment, or hold a TSI exemption based on your ACT, SAT, or STAAR scores.   Application Process

  To be considered for concurrent enrollment, you must meet certain requirements and submit the following items together in a single, sealed envelope to the Office of Recruitment and Admissions by the posted deadline. If submitted after the deadline, the application fee will be increased to $50.

  Fall Deadline: July 1
  Spring Deadline: November 1
  Summer Deadline: April 1

  1. Print and include the paper ApplyTexas application in a sealed envelope.
  2. Include a $40 check payable to Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. Please include the last 4 numbers of the student's social security number on the memo line. Check with your high school counselor to determine if you are eligible for a fee waiver, if so, please include the fee waiver in the envelope.
  3. Include your official high school transcript in its own sealed envelope. The transcript must indicate your grades and coursework through your junior year, your class rank, GPA, and confirm the coursework you will be taking through your senior year.
  4. ACT or SAT score.
  5. A letter of recommendation from your high school principal on official school letterhead.
  6. TSI Assessment scores or exemptions.
  7. Cover Letter: Must indicate you are interested in pursuing concurrent enrollment at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.

  Program for System Admission (PSA)

  The Program for System Admission (PSA) is an alternative admissions program for students not offered admission to Texas A&M University. This pathway program allows students to study at a Texas A&M University System Institution with the plan to transfer to Texas A&M.

  We invite you to consider joining the Islander Family during your academic journey if you are offered the PSA program from TAMU-College Station.

  Once a completed application and required documents are submitted, please allow 2 - 3 weeks for processing.
